Fine, things comming together!


First step is to look at the Kernel Archive.

For example the Mediacom Smartpad 852i guys running JB on the Teclast P85a kernel.

Maybe the Arnova 8G2 kernel will work ...

... but
ft5x0x-TS in combination with BCM4329 WLAN is very untypical.


So secound step is to compile a suitable kernel.

Guess base should be the Xpress kernel (Astralix knows best).

Can we have a full dmesg boot-log? One of the M820c 3G guys should post it on xda.

Mmmm. Thank you my friend. But I have a Kepler 2, not a Pascal 2. I am using your kepler 2 kernel (http://crewrktablets.arctablet.com/?wpfb_dl=215). And pascal's users are using this one already.
There is no problem with OTA, i run RKtools after OTA update and i solved it. :thumbsup:

I can't believe that I found your kernel!

There is like one month ago I'm searchin for a custom kernel that works with my Nextbook 8P. I've searched for many kernels and all I found was the stock kernel.
I need to enable the USB ACM support in my kernel, so I begin to collect kernel sources and compile for my own. But none kernel worked, all of them freeze at the second boot logo screen.

But incredibly I found your JK-JB-NEOX8 and flashed in my tablet, and for my surprise, everything worked fine!
Anyway, I'm here to beg you to point me the kernel source and if you could give me your kernel .config, so I can make the USB ACM support enable!

Wow JK, now I re-read to whole topic, and you are really the man! What a great job have you done! I'm felling very dumb cause you got a working kernel with smartpad810c and yatto/xteam31, and this is exactly what I was trying to do for a whole month!
what you did? checked the dmesg and enabled each of the corresponding driver? what is the magic? I really want to know!
Anyway, I still wondering if you can give me your kernel .config and maybe give me some hints if it's possible to enable the USB ACM support, and if isnt what can be done to make it work?

Hi,
I'm glad to hear that my kernel is working for you on your Nextbook 8P.
You're right, the base of my kernel was the yatto/XTeam31 kernel. But with this kernel sources I had many problems with not working gsensor, HDMI, OTG, overclocking, Bluetooth.
So this was the point I started to correct the not working things.
Checking dmesg of different working kernels was very helpful.
All you need to get started are my repo which you can find in our crew site in my Signature.
Crew RKTablets | Per aspera ad astra, we rock the Tablets or in our github repo https://github.com/crewrktablets/android_kernel_odys_neox_3.0.8.git.

We have started to publish all our sources in this github repo.
You can find my different configs in arch/arm/configs.

One important point... you need the right toolchain. I have experimented with many toolchains, but this one was the only one that was working correct for me:
arm-2010.09-50-arm-none-linux-gnueabi-i686-pc-linux-gnu

Hi, This is the dmesg of your kernel, Wifi is still not working, but in dmesg the wifi chip is detected..... Any Ideas ?

I also tryed to compile my kernel with bcm2349 and i've got the same result.

I'll ask, because Oma told me that in his rom are extra configs for the bcm, without this special configs the wifi would not work.

You're right, the base of my kernel was the yatto/XTeam31 kernel. But with this kernel sources I had many problems with not working gsensor, HDMI, OTG, overclocking, Bluetooth.

Glad to hear that.
I'm sorry, I don't know exactly what Oma included in his ROM for the BCM chip.
Best would be to try the rom first and look if it is working as expected, cause I know that wifi is working in Odys Xpress together with Oma's JB. The Xpress has a BCM chip too.
If it works, best is to ask Oma directly, cause I can make kernel, but have no idea of roms. Only thing I have seen, is, that the driver uses a firmware directory with firmware in it. Could be, that this is the point you are searching for.
