it could be great, i'm always looking for new soft to test... and a kernel is the top one ;)

Great!

Okay, then I can keep this kernel as a final version 0.1.

If you want or have fun testing a next kernel release, please tell me.
I'm in the beginning to have a merge with Astralix kernel, so we can form a kernel that is compilable for different RK2918 boards. That would make it possible to have only one source witch must be updated for future android versions.

GREAT ...antutu numbers are so high...
do you mean that this future kernel could be flashed in a PASCAL 2 board too? that would be incredible...i love your kernel's..so much

thx JochenKauz

no, pascal 2 has another display size and resolution. this kernel is for rk2918 tablets with 8" 800x600 1gb ram

I'm not really sure, but if the pascal 2 is a clone of the Odys NEO X7, you could give that kernel a try:
Spezifischer Kernel NEO X8/X7 mit Autorotation Fix

I've posted a Testkernel for the X7, witch has a 7" display with 800x480 512MB RAM.

yeah...pascal2 has 7" and 800x480 resolution... maybe it works, i will try it.
only one question, this kernels only works in jb roms isn't it? or can i try it with a ics rom?

thx JochenKauz

The only difference between pascal2 and kepler 2 is the display, the other hardware is the same

You can try it with ICS, but I have never tested my X8 kernel with ICS, only with JB. I think the worst case would be that the akkufix and the rotation is broken.

Does the pascal2 has 1024MB RAM too?

yeah it has 1024 mb ram, same as kepler2.
but i will tell you if it works very soon, i will try it with 512mb ram just for testing

thx JochenKauz

ok, i have tested kernel neo x7 with rom oma jb 1.2.2 in a pascal 2 board

ram 512 mb only as expected.
rotation works only if i apply kepler2 model fix.zip. (i have not try sensor fix)
wifi can not be activated, even the switch is not working, only works if i switch bluetooth before, then i can switch wifi switch but wifi do not works, i can not see any wifi networks

in landscape mode is not usable (soft keys do not work), it seems that resolution is taking more screen and then the soft buttons are not accesible, you can see them but they do not works. if you want to click one icon you must click a little down of it (similar to portrait mode but in down direction)

in portrait mode is usable soft buttons works, but the touchscreen is faulty, it seems that you push in one area and the touch is working a little to the left (it is not accurate)

for a testing kernel it is a good begining. thx a lot JochenKauz

Thank you very much for the test!

So there must be more differences between pascal2 and kepler2 than only the screen dimension, cause the only thing changed to kepler2 was the dimension of the screen in code.
What I can see from your test:
1. using the kepler2 sensor libs work. That are good news.
2. screen dimensions are different to my Pearl source, I have to look at it closer.
3. wifi chip is different, or is different in initialisation.

What I would need is a dmesg log from original kernel, is it possible for you to provide one?

Best regards

On your rooted device, you install the app Terminal Emulator.
Then you start the Terminal Emulator and type:
Code:
su
dmesg >/mnt/sdcard/dmesg.txt

Then you find it on your sdcard..

Pearl Touchlet X5? I thought it would be a Touchlet X7?

@lmemperador,
okay, this looks like my dmesg log, except that my wifi is connected to USB20 Bridge.
That could be a difference.

First what I want to do is to get touchscreen working... I think I will have a new test kernel in a few hours.

I know it would not be very easy for you, but if I culd get a dmesg from my faulty kernel, I could look at this too and make a diff check to my dmesg.
If this is not possible, due to touch problems, we had to wait for my next kernel.

Many thanks for your help.

@JochenKauz, thx

due to touch problems i can not make the dmesg from your test kernel. maybe with the next kernel. typing with the keyboard is a madness...sorry

No problem... here is a new X7 kernel, I hope that fixes the touch problem..

Please give feedback!

Fine that my patch for the touch works... very good news.
In the meantime I have talked to fr3ts0n, one of the kernel makers of the loox/xpress kernel, and he gave me a hint where to look for the wifi problem.
It seems that loox and pascal2 share the same problem with wifi and bluetooth.
At this moment I'll look at this point, and I hope to compile a new test kernel in a few minutes. Stay tuned!
