Ich weiß ja nicht wie die sache gedacht ist aber mir scheint der angepinnte Update Info thread irgendwie nicht up to date. es gab schliesslich viel bewegung die letzten tage, die doch zumindest erwähnung finden sollten...

Vielleicht keine Neuigkeit, aber es gibt wohl zwei update-Kanäle. Einmal OTA mit update.zip (die nur ein diff enthalten) und "Motorola Software Update", ein Windows-tool das ein per USB angeschlossenes Gerät checkt und, so verfügbar, ein passendes Update herunterläd und flasht, und zwar ein .sdf, also ein komplettes image (nicht nur ein diff).

(nicht getestet mangels Windows.)

Ding ist, man kann offenbar diese sdf-files mit RSD-Lite auch auf Geräte mit anderer Firmwarekonfig flashen, solange die signaturen passen, hk auf de-gerät flashen geht erwiesenermaßen, insofern sollten die keys weltweit gleich sein.

Das HK-image ist durch dieses tool in die Welt gekommen (quelle: vekexasia im irc). Es wurde wohl kurzzeitig von Motorola freigeschaltet und jemand hat es mit dem Windows-tool heruntergeladen.

Wenn das alles so ist, können die Leute, die totgeflasht und sich mit dem HK-Image beholfen haben, wieder auf etwa ein O2DE zurückgehen (sobald das releast ist) (root dann weg). Gute Sache, soll aber auch niemanden ermutigen jetzt das HK zu flashen..

Ich habe das Tool auch heue entdeckt und mal runter geladen.
Handy wird erkannt, Update wird gecheckt, sagt aber, dass keines zur Verfügung steht. (klar)

Aber wenn ein komplettes Image geflasht wird, wie kann es dann sein, dass wie beim HK Image weiterhin root funktioniert mit 2.0.1 ?

Nein, das wird gefixt sein (wie im Französischen).
Das HK-Image ist älter, da wurde recovery noch nicht gefixt.

You can check for and install the update by going to Settings > About phone > System update > Continue (if in France...)



Please immediately install this update once it's available. This will ensure optimal performance of your Motorola MILESTONE.



In addition to this interim update, we was recently announced that MILESTONE users can expect to see a software upgrade to Android 2.1 at a later date. We will share further details on the timing of the release as they are available.



This update is for all Milestone users. For a successful installation, we recommend installing these updates while the battery in your phone is fully charged.



When is it coming?
This software update will be distributed on a phased basis beginning today in France.
It will continue to roll out until completed to all users.
All Milestone owners, regardless of country, should be able to download and install the software once it is enabled for their country/carrier.

What’s on it?

The Android 2.0.1 software update for Motorola MILESTONE provides improvements to its unlock/answer call gesturing, camera autofocus and corporate exchange email.
Enhanced viewing - 3D landscape view enhancement for the photo gallery and pre loaded music player
Smoother touch gesturing for unlocking/answering calls - Simplified touch and slide gesturing for unlocking the phone and answering calls.
Camera enhancements - Improved camera auto-focus functionality and reduced time between shots.
Exchange email set-up notification - Phone will display a message that will tell you to seek further assistance from your IT department if your company enforces EAS IT security policies. If that’s the case for your company, you won’t be unable to complete email set-up.
Updated Exchange email send function in outbox - 2.0.1 release helps ensure all email is properly sent from the outbox.
Added Audio Effects - Audio Effects allows users to control sound quality through the stereo headset and phone speaker.
Three-Way call connectivity - Improves experiences with three-way call coordination and managing calls between parties.
Enhanced in-call audio quality - Improves call clarity by eliminating limited-occurrences of echoes, especially after a Bluetooth link has ended.
Various other improvements - A number of other improvements have been made including: OS stability; SMS/MMS messaging address functionality (now recognizes parentheses in addresses); some instances of phone reboots; Wi-Fi power cycling; battery power utilization; contact transfer to some Bluetooth car kits; and various UI enhancements including cosmetic changes to the calendar widget, Power Management widget, World Clock widget, and more.
Note: There are also enhancements to other widgets including the picture widget. You will have to remove and reinstall some of your home-screen widgets to get them to work correctly after the updated.

Nein, das wird gefixt sein (wie im Französischen).
Das HK-Image ist älter, da wurde recovery noch nicht gefixt.

Aber das würde ja dann auch heißen, dass es mit einem Deutschen Image über das Motorola Software Update Tool nicht funktionieren würde mit 2.0.1 Full-Image + Root, oder?!

In einigen Stunden ist der 22.1. Da soll ja nun angeblich das neue Update fuers DROID kommen. Mal sehen was die dann fuer eine Versionsnummer haben.

jetzt, wo es die Französische Version offiziell gibt, weiß schon jemand, ob denn damit auf einem französischen Milestone definitiv mit den bisherigen Methoden kein Root möglich ist?

Gibts ein französisches Forum, wo darüber berichtet wurde? Die werden das ja auch getestet haben...
