Mpokang Kernel - Übersetzung folgt


Started my own kernel development.
This kernel focuses on MAX USABLE RAM.
As we know, the GNex has 1GB of RAM. A big part of it (300+ MB) is reserved for various things.

Is it really needed? No, it looks like that actual usable RAM can be much much more. Started testing some builds and the results are very encouraging. Only a screenshot for now:

Alpha 2 uploaded. 1080p doesn't work. Ramdisk NOT included. That means that the ROM must be flashed again if any other kernel with ramdisk has been flashed previously

Note 1: This kernel is based on an old version of Golden kernel which by its turn is based on ASKP, which is based on fancy kernel.

Note 2: Many redundant and practically useless stuff is removed. Badass sounding governors and schedulers, which don't actually offer anything were removed.

Note 3: Interactive gov from kernel 3.4, hyper gov and SIOPlus, deadline and row are the best out there. Maybe FIOPs on the future.

Note 4: Have all the zcache, zram, cleancache, zsmalloc stuff ready. But first priority is the RAM reclaiming. After a stable release other useful stuff will be added.

Note 5: In general .. more useless stuff removed equals more RAM.

Moin,
klingt nach einem interessanten Projekt, vielversprechend, zumal Fancy und Golden schon zu empfehlende Kernelarbeiten darstellen;
von meinem Empfinden her könnte man, denke ich, zumindest mit Stock das Rammanagemant fürs GNex, ich nenns mal, etwas straffen.
Bin gespannt...
Irre gut hab ich da in JB 4.2 das Xenon Rom, die v7 oder v8 glaub ich, in Erinnerung mit dem beigepackten Azrael Kernel; bei dem ist mir gleich das super Rammanagemant aufgefallen.

Nach einer Stunde war mein Phone sehr laggy und ich bin erstmal wieder zum Golden zurück, dennoch denke ich, dass Potenzial in Kernel steckt und werde weitere Versionen testen und melde mich dann

Ich warte lieber noch bis er seine eigene Ramdisk dazupackt. (Da kommt wahrscheinlich auch dein Problem her Bvt.)
Hab nämlich keine Lust meine Rom neu zu flashen ^^
Ansonsten klingt das schon seht gut. Vor allem das mit dem (eventuell) dynamisch aktivierbaren Ion Heap (Iwas mit der Kamera), der ja viel RAM schlucken soll.

- Now using ramdisk (Osmosis modified). Now you can flash the kernel unconditionally (no more screwing from other ramdisks) and my preferred settings are kept.
- Introduction of Cleancache from kernel 3.7
- Introduction of Zsmalloc, Zcache and Frontswap from kernel version 3.8

Stable 2 - wieder ohne Ramdisk ...

Ver. 2:
- Reclaimed 4 MB of RAM (now it should be at 771 MB) from the frame buffer. TI has been very generous spending GNex's RAM all over the place.
- Pushed some commits from ASPK, mainly memory hotplugging related
- Went back to Anykernel format. No ramdisk since there were some complains of problems with some roms.
- Fixed vfs_cache_pressure (script not needed)
- Some memory reservation and ram leaks fixing (900KB RAM more).
- Should have a bit better battery consumption since I altered the dirty ratios.

Changelog:
- Modified the installation script. Now it copies the hacked Power HAL to the system so that altered gov settings do not reset after screen off (No need to check "Frequency Lock" in Trickster now).
- Removed a bunch of useless stuff. The kernel itself shrunk significantly. Boot time should be faster than ever.
- Reclaimed another 600K

- Changed interactive governor default settings. Only above_highspeed_delay needs to change to 20000 now.

Hallo,
hab mir den jetzt auch gegönnt;
läuft auf den ersten Blick super flott, scheint stabil zu sein. Einstellungsoptionen sind ähnlich dem Fancy und dem Golden, mit dem positiven Unterschied, dass dieser Kernel nur etwa halb soviel MB umfasst als der Durchschnitt.
Zum RAM Management kann ich noch nix genaues sagen, wurde erst installiert.
Auf den ersten Blick liesse sich eventuell eine etwas bessere Verteilung ausmachen, zB gegenüber dem Stock Google; aber das muss ich noch genauer checken.
Fürs Erste passt es.

Hallo,
nach re-boot mit fix eingestelltem Trickster Bootloop.
Zum Rammanagement möcht ich sagen, dass das die ersten paar Stunden vielleicht etwas besser ist als vergleichsweise mit dem googleeigenem Kernel; es gleicht sich aber danach aus, ich beobachte den freien RAM per Prozentanzeige und kann daher ziemlich genau sagen, im Prinzip kein Unterschied.
Schade wegen dem Loop, aber das ist ein NoGo.

Hallo,
habe beide Kernel etwa einen Tag getestet, ohne Schwierigkeiten.
So macht das Sinn; wunderbar geschmeidig, RAMmanagement ist deutlich besser mit etwas mehr RAM als vergleichsweise Stock, und der RAM scheint stabil erhöht zu bleiben, Einstellungsoptionen sind reichlich, auch für Übertaktung.
Kann man nun empfehlen.
Die Soft Floatversion scheint bei mir noch ein Quentchen mehr RAM freizuhalten.

Ich gehe auf meinem Gerät von etwa 5-7 % mehr RAM aus, kann zeitweilig auch auf ein Plus von bis zu 10% steigen.
Allerdings hab ich zRam aktiviert.

Haha, jetzt sehe ich das auch ... am Rechner gemacht und mit strg+v reinkopiert, nix passiert ... das habe ich dann wohl noch 4* gemacht und beim letzten mal hat es geklappt ... scheinbar doch schon beim ersten mal

Moin,
eine Sache fällt mir nun auf, da es bei v6 wieder geschieht, und zwar beim ersten Bootdurchgang nach Installation Re-boot, weiters sind danach alle Widgets weg vom Homescreen; vom GenieWidget sind gar die Einstellungen zurückgesetzt.
Danach funzt das Gerät einwandfrei.
Hat noch jemand das Problem?
Oder mackt mein GNex mal wieder rum?

Hi,
leider Hänger beim Logo in Kombination mit crDroid Rom, schade.
Habs zweimal versucht, einmal mit, einmal ohne Chache/Dalvik Wipe.
Muss aber dazu sagen, mit dem Fancy bootet mein Gerät ebenso nicht durch; ist das erste Rom, das mit dem Fancy hängt.
