CalyxOS für unterstützte Pixel-Geräte

Es gibt ein erstes Test-Build auf Basis von Android 14 für das Pixel 6a, andere Geräte folgen später:

Wer auf der aktuellen Version 4.14.0 ist, kann per adb das OTA per 'adb shell setprop sys.update.channel fourteen' - Befehl anstoßen. Wer ganz neu aufsetzen möchte, lädt sich das factory image aus dem reddit-Post.

Android 14 test build for Pixel 6a​

CalyxOS 5.0.0 - Android 14 is now available for testing for the Pixel 6a.
It'll be available for Pixel 5 and newer next week, depending on how well testing goes.
We'll look into Pixel 8 support, and also porting Android 14 Pixel 4 / 4a after that.
Why Pixel 6a only

• We decided to do the first few test builds only for the Pixel 6a, to make things easier for us
• We like to test every single build before release, and as you can imagine doing that for just 1 device instead of 11 is a lot faster
• Every CalyxOS developer has a Pixel 6a. Some have 2. That makes working much easier. Not everyone has every other device.
• We figured that it'd be easier to start with just one device, fix some bugs and then release it for all.
• We didn't want to release something too buggy / non functional.
• At the same time, no matter how much testing we do, there'll always be something we missed, so it's better to release it and get some feedback.

Known issues

• All hardware should work

• If you're using secondary users + work profile a lot, suggest waiting for a future build, some fixes are missing.
• Hide apps functionalty is missing.

Steps
OTA updates for existing CalyxOS users

1. Make sure your phone is running the latest CalyxOS version 4.14.0
2. Backup your data - you can use SeedVault, the included Backup app.
3. Enable USB Debugging on your phone.
4. From your computer: adb shell setprop sys.update.channel fourteen
5. Then, on your phone: Settings -> System -> System update settings -> Check for updates

Fresh installs, factory images

1. Download the factory images from the links below.
2. Please follow the installation instructions at Install CalyxOS, but use the latest factory image you just downloaded instead of the one linked on that page.

Ab dem Pixel 5 und höher!:

Wer bisher bei Calyx-Version 4.14.0 war, bekommt mit 4.14.1 ein Oktober-Update, welches als Vorbereitungs-Basis für Android 14 dient (egal welcher Update-Kanal voreingestellt ist).

Für Besitzer eines 6a, die bereits die erste Test-Version von 14 installiert haben: Bitte dieses OTA-Update (4.14.1) nicht installieren bzw. neustarten, da es durch dieses "Versehen" (-> Downgrade von 14 zu 13) zu einem Neustart/Factory Reset-Bildschirm mit evtl. Datenverlust führt.

October update, Android 14 preparation​

CalyxOS 4.14.1 is now available for Pixels 5 and newer.
It's rolling out to all 3 channels (Stable, Beta and Security Express).

Pixel Tablet, Fold

• Fix security issue with UWB, feature temporarily removed.
• We will post more details about this by end of month, giving everyone a chance to update to a build with the fix.

Android 14 update
We plan to release a build for all devices as soon as tomorrow if all goes well.
This update was in fact released to help with that, to have a set upgrade path.
The idea is to make sure that everyone running any current version is on this last Android 13 build (just for Pixel 5 and newer)
Only then do they get the upgrade to Android 14. This lets us ensure that we only have to test the upgrade from any 13 build to this build, 4.14.1 and then from 4.14.1 to android14.
It'll go something like:

1. All existing users get updated to 4.14.1. Even if you're on the previous 4.14.0, or running an older build.
2. Once on 4.14.1 (and when Android 14 is released), you'll be offered an update to 14.
3. After that, the update cycle will continue like before.

Other devices
We'll continue doing Android 13 updates for other devices like mentioned before. Some will get ported to Android 14, namely the Pixel 4, 4a and FP4.

Wir werden weiterhin Android 13-Updates für andere Geräte durchführen, wie zuvor erwähnt. Einige werden auf Android 14 portiert, nämlich Pixel 4, 4a und FP4.
Dann warte ich mal.

Update auf die Aurora 4.3.3.51 hat erst nach löschen vom F - Droid Speicher funktioniert . Von der Calyx 4.14 auf 4.14.1 ohne Probleme . Werde erstmal auf Android 13 bleiben , funktionierendes Gerät hat Priorität .

CalyxOS auf Basis von Android 14 für Pixel 5 und neuer sind jetzt verfügbar:

Diejenigen mit einem 6a, dem bereits installierten 5.0.0 (A14-Test-Build) und dem von den Devs versehentlichen 'Downgrade' (4.14.1) sollen jetzt so lang den 'Try again'-Button drücken, bis das Gerät wieder in 5.0.0 hochgefahren ist und das OTA für 5.0.1 installiert wird.

For Pixel 6a, testing was a week earlier, and Security express / beta were a day earlier than the above.

• Google has changed how Work profile "Pausing" works. It's more like "Pause apps" now, where only notifications aren't shown, apps keep running. Will be changed to previous behavior.
• F-Droid will ask for unknown sources to install/update certain apps. Will be fixed in the next build.
• Lockscreen shortcuts are missing
• Custom status bar icons are missing
• Custom font selection is missing
• There might be certain other minor issues, but for the most part it should be solid.

Steps
OTA updates for existing CalyxOS users

1. Make sure your phone is running the latest CalyxOS version 4.14.1

3. Settings -> System -> System update settings -> Release channel -> (Beta or Security express)
4. Then, tap "Check for updates"

1. Follow the instructions on the website, at Android 14 for Pixels 5 and newer

Pixel 6a test build mixup

• We released an Android 14 test build for the Pixel 6a last week, CalyxOS 5.0.0
• We also released a final Android 13 upgrade just after that, CalyxOS 4.14.1
• Unfortunately, that final Android 13 upgrade was also accidendally rolled out to Android 14 users, which wouldn't work given it's a downgrade. Our apologies for this.

The fix

• If you're running 4.14.1 already with your data intact, you can ignore this
• If you're on 5.0.1 already, you can ignore this
• If you're on 5.0.0 and haven't rebooted yet, you can reboot and then:
• If you're shown a screen with two options "Try again" or "Factory data reset"
• If you keep choosing "Try again" eventually it'll boot back to 5.0.0, at which point it should download and install an update to 5.0.1

Möchte nochmal ergänzen, dass das hier von einigen genutzte 4a 5G quasi ein 5er ist. Die Namensgebung ist reichlich bescheuert.

Außerdem hab ich gestern (ein hoffentlich finales Mal) den Aurora-Absatz im Startpost überarbeitet und unten einen neuen nützlichen Link platziert. Ich hab nämlich endlich einen stabilen & zuverlässigen Werbeblocker-DNS-Server gefunden.

Auf meinem 4a5G ist gerade die Aktualisierung auf A14 problemlos durchgelaufen.Bankapp geht(ING)

• Lockscreen shortcuts are missing kommt hoffentlich noch
• Custom status bar icons are missing
• Custom font selection is missing
• nutze ich nicht.
• Nova Launcher läuft. Double Tap to sleep nicht
• F-Droid Classic meckert, dass es für eine ältere Version ist, geht aber.

Na, wenigstens auf dem 4a5G läuft A14 scheinbar schon. F-Droid wird doch von den Calyx-Devs "betreut" und sollte mit jedem Update auf dem neuesten Stand sein - vielleicht haben sie es beim 4a5G versäumt!? Bei mir auf dem 6a läuft F-Droid v1.17.0.

Tja, nun muss ich wohl mein Handy plattmachen und einmal frisch installieren. Das A14-Update hat es nicht mehr unbeschadet verkraftet. Ständig friert irgendwas ein etc.


Hab jetzt erstmal alle App-Caches gelöscht in der Hoffnung, dass ich da noch drum herum komme.

Nur um sicher zu gehen: Du hattest jetzt kein Arbeits-Profil o.ä. eingerichtet? Leider häufen/bestätigen sich die Berichte, daß man in diesem Fall keinen Zugriff mehr auf den Media-Speicher hat (hier half wohl nur ein Werks-Reset). Auch las ich von einem in der Bedienung sehr langsamen Gerät usw....

Mittlerweile bearbeitet Google das Ganze...hoffentlich kommt schon mit dem nächsten Update da ein wirksamer Fix.
