I have read about modify a rom and does not seem complicated, at least I know roms to make Apk preinstalled at the rom, I also wonder if I can change the roms to have pre-installed packages like that ext_sd-patch...but now that I think the problem is that the file ntf.zip is for fwdn and can not be changed -not that I know-
Yes, but the FWDN image is a simple and fast way to release new firmware. To build a sd-card update from this image is more complicated and take some time.
You can extract/edit the contents of such image but its only possible with a real linux OS and take much time and work.
A sd-card update for Android 4 should follow in the next time (says CatSound).

OMG that's the way, if you fix something, seems you have to damage something else :S... and just 5 days of release, I wonder if there will be installable from SD version of "ntf.zip"... I think I can only expect a new version where they fix the problem, I hope to launch soon uu
It's annoying, but recovery at this time is not important. You can flash every time with FWDN-Mode in case you running in trouble.
Make backups from your apps and data with titanium backup or MyBackup and you stand on the safe side.

I've tried to start recovery over adb, but it boots to the screen who must touch the menu-key.
Then i've startet a recovery.img from PC over fastboot, but the tablet won't start this image.

Don't get angry!
I think you've achieved a lot for the short time.
Wait and hope for the next update from CatSound.
We stay here and will assist you, if it's possible but at this time, we can not do more for you. :(

Doesn't look that much like my cat nova with the connectors (audio, power, usb, ...) in a completely different order. Keep in mind You could be on the wrong track...

Boah...

Das war Expressservice!

Respekt!

I managed to fix the small problem, I returned to re-install the ntf and solved the problem n.n... but the problem with the recovery touchkeys continues, and I want to make root ... Is there a way to root that is not from the recovery mode?

It should be possible with adb.
You can also try tools like SuperOneClick (works with adb) to gain root.
We have not testet this with Android 4, because the old recovery-script for Android 2.3 works.
But without recovery...

Or be patient and wait for the next update from CatSound.
Today CatSound announced, that an sd-update may come in the next days.
I don't now if it's only for a allready installed Android 4 or if it's possible to change from 2.3 to 4.0 with this update.

I've done ICS-root with adb using following steps:
1. Copy files "su" and "Superuser.apk" to place of adb.

2. Enter commands:
adb shell
mount -o rw,remount /system
rm /system/bin/su
rm /system/xbin/su
exit
adb push su /system/bin/su
adb push Superuser.apk /system/app/
adb shell
chmod 06755 /system/bin/su
ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/su
exit

Use it on your own risk! :cool2:
good luck

Okay, here we go.

You must install Android-USB-Driver on your PC.
Take this one from here: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...a-meine-tipps.164962-page-2.html#post-2231836

On tablet, check that Settings->Applications->Development 'USB debugging' is enabled.

Connect your running tablet with USB cable to your PC and check that the driver is properly installed.

Then try 'adb device' in a ms-dos command line window, this should return a number, when your tablet is properly connected.

Or mayby other drivers?

Ask marc132, he is an absolut android genius.
I'll have to do something others.

When adb could not find the tablet, the connection or the driver may be the problem.

kommst du jetzt auch damit an?
Geh ins offtopic, da kannst dich genug verbal prügeln.

Außerdem hast du mir die Hälfte meines Android Wissens beigebracht, also hab ich keine Ahnung von ADB ung geh jetzt ins bett. Gute Nacht.

Dann klink dich nicht in Themen ein, wo du nichts hilfreiches zu beitragen kannst!
Du versaust hier jeden Thread mit deinem offtopic-Scheixxx und sinnlosem (oder Gedankenlosen) gelaber!

Maybe you are nerving.

Ok, I could finally do so, I remove a faulty driver, and plug the tablet then install the correct driver (was automatic plug & play) and follow the steps suggested in this post: [url=https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/cat-nova.476/root-auf-nova-ics.224756.html and Buala!
everything installed, thanks!

Anyone have problem installing Android4 on EM86?
It working excellent, fast, touchscreen correct absolutely, BUT wifi/3g doesn't works, only external 3G dongle.

Second problem -- even with 100% muted sound periodically (every ~15 seconds) it starts generate noise, that disappears in ~3-5 seconds.
using external 3G dongle that gives loud "cellular" noise, as when phone near sound system.

First, take my apologize for my bad english, just let me try to comment some of your questions.

I think, you tried to install android 4.0 upgrade, made for CAT NOVA, on your EM86 device? Well, if U did, U need to know, CAT NOVA doesnt have internal 3G-Module, so I think, this upgrade, made for CAT NOVA, doesnt include support for internal 3G.

An unexpected noise out of the internal speakers, even with muted sound, you can find on CAT NOVA too, it should be fixed with the latest version of the flash-upgrade. That version was released at the CAT SOUND Homepage.
WICHTIG: Allgemeiner Hinweis zum Android 4 Update

Attention: In order, to use this latest upgrade, it is required, that the whole install-package already exists on your pc. This new file only includes some new files, replacing the older ones in the existing package.

Last, but not least, U probably know, that this android 4.0 upgrade is made especially for the CAT NOVA Tablet PC, so anything, U try on your em86, using this upgrade, U do at your own risk.

Don't worry, english are also not my native language:)

Of course, i know, that CAT NOVA differs form EM86, but really not much. My tablet seems to be differs only in wifi & 3G modules, since everything else working excellent.
CatNova 2.3 build are working fully, including Wifi module (but not 3G).
Android4 working, but Wifi not... this why i have asked -- why 2.3 working, 4 not? Maybe someone knows difference...

I have installed "CatNova4Flash2707.rar" -- and sound still there.

btw: touchscreen under android4 working better, than in original 2.3 (original have problems near search/back/app/home buttons, 4.0 working stable over whole touchscreen).

It lacks only FWDN app :)

CAT NOVA and EM86 are same hardware, but there some differences in used additional hardware, depends on "cheapity" of EM86 seller... I have 3G+WIFI+8" capacitive screen, CAT NOVA doesn't fits due to lack of 3G :(

Its very bad, that Emdoor doesn't released Android drivers source -- i can't just build my own firmware then :(

Well, another problem seems to be, that even "identical" devices, like one CAT NOVA, compared with another CAT NOVA, doesnt work the same way. We have many CAT NOVA Users, they have several different problems with their devices, anyway, that it is the same device and the same android version. It might depend on the quality of the built-in hardware components, also as it depends of the way, the components are installed inside the device. Think, thats the price, U have to pay, when U buy a cheap device, made by some chinese back-yard manufacturer
