Samung Gear S: Die neue Standalone-Smartwatch mit Glamour-Touch

Samsung ist in letzter Zeit - mal wieder - extrem fleißig mit neuen Geräten: Man muss nur bis Anfang diesen Monats zurückschauen und es finden sich Berichte zum Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2, Samsung Galaxy Alpha, dem Samsung Galaxy Note 4, aber auch zu einem neuen Multi-Charging-Kabel und zur neuen Samsung Level Box mini. Wohl kein anderer Hersteller ist derart schnell mit dem Heranzüchten neuer Geräte. Jetzt gibt es (noch vor der IFA 2014 und dem im Vorfeld stattfindenden Unpacked-Event) gleich zwei neue Wearables des südkoreanischen Großkonzerns: Die Samsung Gear S ist eine 3G-fähige Standalone-Smartwatch, die demnach in der Lage ist, auch ohne ein Smartphone vollumfänglich zu funktionieren. Sie kann eigenständig telefonieren oder Nachrichten empfangen und stellt damit sicherlich einen patenten Begleiter für das Lauftraining oder andere Aktivitäten dar, bei denen ein großes Smartphone unpraktisch mitzunehmen ist. Die Gear S verfügt über ein 2 Zoll großes AMOLED-Display und einen 1 GHz Dualcore-Prozessor, weiterhin über GPS, einen Herzfrequenzmesser und Bewegungssensoren. Der Akku ist 300mAh groß und soll bis zu zwei Tage ohne Nachladung funktionieren. Als Betriebssystem kommt Samsungs Tizen OS zum Einsatz, welches sich als Konkurrenz zu Android versucht, wohl aber mittelfristig das Schicksal von Bada teilen dürfte.

Die Samsung Gear S besitzt eine Fußgänger-Navigation, welche auf Nokias HERE basiert und bietet (natürlich) Facebook-Support. Man könnte ja verpassen, dass Thomas unseren Status liked. Der interne Speicher der Gear S ist 4 GB groß, der Arbeitsspeicher misst 512 MB. Fitness-Tracking ist mit dieser Smartwatch selbstredend möglich, sowohl mit S Health, als auch mit Nike+ Running. Zudem ist die Gear S dank IP67-Standard Outdoor-tauglich und damit nicht nur für den Lauf-Einsatz in der Stadt geeignet, sondern auch für eine Runde querfeldein durch den Dschungel. Zusätzlich zur Uhr hat Samsung noch das passende Gear Circle-Headset vorgestellt: Dieses lässt sich via Bluetooth mit der Smartwatch verbinden und ermöglicht so das Hören von Benachrichtigungen, das Ansagen von Sprachbefehlen oder natürlich den Genuss von Musik. Beide Geräte werden ab Oktober auf den Markt kommen und natürlich wird man sie sich auf der IFA 2014 in Berlin Anfang September an Samsungs Messestand anschauen können.

Also announced today with the Samsung Gear S is the new Samsung Gear Circle. When paired with a smartphone, users can easily receive calls, listen to music, and make voice commands in style through a Bluetooth connection. It features a magnetic lock which clasps around the user’s neck when not in use, as well as a vibrate function to signal incoming calls and notifications.

Both the Samsung Gear S and the Gear Circle will be available in global markets in phases through Samsung’s retail channels, e-commerce websites and via carriers beginning October.
