LG G Watch R: Die runde G-Watch ist jetzt offiziell - Konkurrenz für die Moto 360?

Nun ist sie da: Die LG G Watch R, die ihr rundes Design bereits kürzlich im Video-Teaser veranschaulicht hatte, ist noch vor der IFA 2014 offiziell vorgestellt worden. Der offensichtliche Konkurrent zur Motorolo Moto 360 bedient sich eines ebenso runden Designs, sieht aber trotzdem anders aus. Ob besser oder schlechter, das entscheidet der persönliche Geschmack. Die G Watch R verfügt über ein 1,3 Zoll Plastic-OLED Display und ist explizit nicht als Ersatz für die orginale Google Smartwatch. Die LG G Watch R sieht elegant aus und macht durchaus den Eindruck, dass sie dem Endkunden gefallen könnte. Auf der IFA wird sie deshalb sicherlich einen längeren Boxenstopp einlegen, um sich von Presse und Verbrauchern begutachten zu lassen. Neben dem Design einer Smartwatch ist natürlich vor allem der Akku entscheidend - und hier scheint auch LG keine übermäßigen Erwartungen wecken zu wollen: In der G Watch R kommt eine 410 mAh Batterie zum Einsatz, welche damit lediglich 10 mAh stärker ist als die in der ersten LG G Watch. Damit steht zu vermuten, dass viel mehr als ein Tag ohne Akkuladung wohl nicht drin sitzt.

Auch ansonsten besteht beim Interieur der G Watch R eine verblüffende Ähnlichkeit mit den Komponenten der ersten G Watch; es gibt austauchbare 22 mm Armbänder, einen mit 1,2 GHz getakteten Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 Prozessor, 512 MB Arbeitsspeicher und 4 GB internen Speicher. Eine IP67-Zertifizierung ist ebenfalls vorhanden, wodurch man sich nicht vor dem nächsten Regenguss zu fürchten braucht. Zwei wichtige Änderungen gibt es aber doch: Zum einen ist in der LG G Watch R ein Herzfrequenzmesser verbaut und zum anderen scheint an der Seite ein Power-Button angebracht zu sein. Als Betriebssystem kommt Android Wear zum Einsatz. Die Verfügbarkeit am Markt wird voraussichtlich ab dem vierten Quartal gegeben sein, womit wird von einem Launch im Oktober oder November ausgehen können. Der genaue Preis ist bislang noch nicht bekannt. With a suite of LG health and fitness apps, users can also monitor their heart rate with the support of the embedded photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor. And the smart notifications provide users with important reminders of missed calls and messages, upcoming meetings, events, and local weather forecasts.

With an artisanal elegance, the LG G Watch R boasts a refined aesthetic that is reminiscent of traditional timepieces. Replete with a circular watch face, this elegantly crafted Android wearable has classic curves encased in a strong, durable stainless steel frame and carries a suite of watch faces that are accessible with a simple touch of the display. Its interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap also complements its overall aesthetic, giving it an air of modern prestige.
